There is hand sanitiser available throughout the university but it is best to have a small sanitiser bottle on you at all times as well. You will receive a checklist of items to bring when your application gets accepted for UQ student accommodation. Make sure you read it carefully so that you know what to bring and what not to bring to the campus. For on campus accommodation, the room you are in will be furnished with a bed, desk, chairs, closet space etc. so you don’t need to worry about bringing in furniture. There are also blinds installed on the windows. You can also get a tour of the dorms when you visit the university so that you can get an idea of what is required.

You have to pack bed linens such as sheets, blankets, bedspreads and then there are towels and washcloths to pack as well. You have to choose which toiletries you need and any medication that you are taking at the moment. Make sure you bring hangers and some boxes with you so that you can arrange your clothes in the closet easily. You need several changes of shoes for different activities and laundry items such as detergent, dryer sheets, laundry basket etc. There are some basic items you need to have with you such as an umbrella, a flashlight and sunglasses. You can also bring in a mini fridge and a small microwave so that you can prepare some basic meals. The university accommodation will be located near eateries so you will be able to bring in ready-made food as well. And there are shared kitchens that you can make use of.

There will be sufficient lighting in the room but you can bring a desk lamp to make you feel at home and some pictures to hang on the wall. Organising supplies will make your life easier so make sure to pack enough bins and boxes so that you can keep everything in their place. You can even get a coffeemaker so that you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning before you go in for your classes. You can also bring in a television. It is advised that the students are not allowed to use anything that will damage the walls so if you are hanging up a picture or a wall clock, you will need to use double tape or sticky tack to attach things to the wall.
